A concept for Monzo: saving together with friends, without the spreadsheet. I designed the in-app flow and the launch page for shared goals. Not affiliated with Monzo.

The challenge

Group savings for a holiday, a festival or a stag do usually live in a group chat and one person's bank account. Someone ends up chasing, and nobody can see who has paid.

The approach

I extended Monzo's Pots into a goal friends save into together. Everyone sees progress, saving is automatic, and leaving or paying out takes two taps.

Announcing it the Monzo way

The launch page follows Monzo's own feature pages: one bold line and the app on a coral backdrop. It's the web half of the project, and shows the feature can be sold, not just built.
Set a goal

From idea to invite in under a minute

Creating a goal takes three screens: what it's for and by when, how much each person puts in, and who's in. Invites go out as a link, so friends can join from whichever chat the plan started in.

The goal screen shows the total and each person's progress towards their share. A gentle nudge replaces the group-chat reminder, and nobody ever sees anyone else's balance.
Settle up

When the goal is hit, or someone drops out

When the goal is reached, the money can pay one booking or go back to everyone. Leaving early returns your share, and the plan adjusts for everyone else.

Right next to your Pots

Shared goals get their own section under Pots, so they live where people already save. When a friend chips in, a notification says so, and the group chat never has to.
